Progress of the project in Akyem Maase:
- The plot of land has been purchased and is connected to the transport network.
- 15 buildings serving various purposes have been constructed in recent years.
- The site has been connected to the electricity supply.
- A generator has been installed to cope with regular power cuts.
- The water supply is provided by the project’s own well and water tower.
- Toilet facilities for adults and children have been installed.
- The first school building was completed in 2013.
- Over 430 children are currently being looked after and taught in the nursery, pre-school and school.
- A new school building is largely complete and is gradually being brought into use. Preparations have been made for the installation of flush toilets(!).
- The first classrooms on the ground floor are already in use.
- Since early 2017, a new deep borehole (100 m) has been providing a greater supply of good-quality water.
- Meanwhile, the fourth minibus from Germany has been put into service as part of the project.
- The canteen has been built and roofed. The interior fit-out is now due to take place, including electrical installations, flooring work and other tasks.
